Dans le cadre de l'activité « Pause du mercredi »  de la bibliothèque de Beaconsfield, Pauline Faguy-Girard nous emmène en promenade dans le village Beaurepaire:

• visite des églises Beaurepaire United et Beaurepaire Christ Church
• histoire des écoles au fil du temps
• développement commercial du début du 20e siècle jusqu’à nos jours

La visite sera suivie d'un pique-nique.

des quartiers de la ville de Beaconsfield

grâce à ces circuits pédestres dans les coins les plus pittoresques de la ville.

Voici l'horaire pour l'été 2012.

Pointe Thompson : première concession à Beaurepaire en 1678, histoire du Manoir Beaurepaire; tour de la pointe.

La région du Grove : maisons de ferme, paradis estival à la fin du 19e siècle; parcours du chemin Lakeshore jusqu’à l’avenue Kirkwood.

Village Beaurepaire : églises et écoles au fil du temps, développement commercial du début du 20e siècle jusqu’à nos jours; parcours de l’avenue Fieldfare jusqu’au boulevard Beaconsfield et le Village.

Églises Briarwood et St-Edmond : La visite bilingue débute à 13h par l’église Briarwood et se poursuit à l’église St-Edmund, au coin de St-Charles. Une occasion d’en connaître plus sur la riche histoire de Beaconsfield.

Ces visites historiques sont offertes gratuitement par la Société historique Beaurepaire-Beaconsfield et sont d’une durée d’environ 1h30.
Aucune réservation n’est requise.
Vous n’avez qu’à vous présenter au point de rencontre 10 minutes avant l’heure de départ.

La Société historique Beaurepaire-Beaconsfield organise une visite
au Centre canadien du patrimoine aéronautique,
sur le Campus MacDonald de l’université Mc Gill, à Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue

La visite débutera par un exposé sur l’histoire du bâtiment historique qui abrite le CCPA et se poursuivra par la visite guidée des expositions du centre sur deux étages. Une galerie d’art, inaugurée en novembre 2011, peut aussi être visitée au sous-sol.

Changing Arrangement.

The Historical Society sponsored three displays in the Beaconsfield Library Cube: toys, travel, school (including the Beaurepaire Catholic School’s Visitors’ Book from 1913 to 1949).

• The BBHS were present at the June 4th fête in Beaurepaire Village.
• Submit your treasured family recipes. The BBHS is looking for recipes which use local foods passed down through local families.

Ceremonial Planting

Jean Lemire, a direct descendant of one of our first land grantees and with the same name, will plant a commemorative tree on Thompson Point with the mayor on June 20th to mark Beaconsfield’s 100th birthday.

Le Beaconsfield d'antan

Une promenade d'une heure trente dans le secteur à l'est du boulevard Saint-Charles avec Pauline Faguy-Girard, secrétaire de la Société historique Beaurepaire Beaconsfield.

Départ du Club nautique de Beaconsfield situé au 26, chemin Lakeshore à 13 h

30. La visite guidée sera suivie d'un thé en après-midi (7 $) au Yacht Club.

An hour and a half stroll through the section of the city east of Saint Charles boulevard with Pauline Faguy-Girard, a member of the Beaurepaire-Beaconsfield Historical Society. Departure from the Beaconsfield Yacht Club, 26 Lakeshore Road at 1:30 p.m. The tour will end with afternoon tea ($7) at the Yacht Club.

• Douglas Jack will be teaching pronunciation of first nation’s words; tee-pee and artefacts and maps to show.
• Karen Messier hosts a table and backdrop and a map, Barbara Barclay will display a watercolour of a house to be identified by people for a draw.
• The event is from 1 to 6 pm, at Centennial Hall.

The “Trip Back in Time Exhibition” and our Annual Wine and Dessert evening will take place at Centennial Hall on February 9th, 1988.

“Turn of the Century” costumes

Quilters working in one room, sports articles and old tools- in another and toys, a tea-room, etc. as well as numerous other interesting treasures throughout Centennial Hall.

Open to members of the Historical Society as well as the mayor and councillors. Tickets $3. The Mayor, Council, other City officials and the "sitters" will receive complimentary tickets. People are asked to reserve tickets in advance as space is limited and it will also give us a better idea as to numbers attending.

The Annual General Meeting will be held at Centennial Hall on Monday, June 8, 1987 at 6:00 p.m.

Our business meeting should take no more than 30 minutes, and then a sandwich supper will be served. The supper costs $5 per person; please RSVP June Walsh by May 29th if you plan to attend.

At 7:30 the curator of the David Stewart Museum, Guy Vadeboncoeur, will speak about St. Helen's Island and Le Vieux Fort.

We are including a membership form which you are invited to fill out at your leisure and to bring to the meeting with your membership fee for 1987-88: $5 for Beaconsfield residents, $7 for non-residents. Remember that the charge for guests is now $2 per meeting.

The Beaconsfield carnival is set for the weekend of February 7th.1986.

• There will be food for the Thursday VIP reception*
• There will be furniture and memorabilia to furbish Centennial Hall from members lend
• Items on display from other museums.

Barbara Briggs organized a Como Tour: About 30 members and friends enjoyed the tour of Mrs. Hyde's house and lunch at the Willow Inn.

August 21-23 1986- Display at Beaconsfield Shopping Centre: we will share a table and staffing with the senior citizens' association.
